Three Sources of Information on Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar affective disorder is a mental illness that wreaks havoc with the emotional well being of an individual.  This disruption is characterized by feelings ranging from an extreme sense of well being to the opposite end of the emotional spectrum, with complete sadness and anxiety.  Because of the two extremes associated with this condition it is referred to as bipolar, or “two poles” of moods. 

There are times where those affected with bipolar affective disorder experience normal emotional behavior, but typically function within the two extremes.  Generally, the state of being extremely depressed is the phase most experienced.

The Internet is a valuable tool, replete with information on bipolar disorder.  This information serves to powerfully assist those individuals and families who are dealing with bipolar disorder.

In addition the Internet provides a venue for this community to talk to each other.  The purpose of this sharing is to encourage one another, to take comfort in the fact of knowing that there are others who are coping with this disorder and to provide a forum where individuals can be completely transparent.  In addition this forum allows for the exchange of ideas regarding treatments and discoveries.

Local Support Groups

Within local bipolar disorder associations are meetings of support groups that come together to encourage and help one another.  The information on bipolar disorders that is provided by these support groups is invaluable.  Not only is it an opportunity to meet face-to-face with those who are experiencing the same reality, but is also a forum to exchange ideas, to listen and to be heard.

Prescriptions Man :

Diagnosing ‘mental disorders’ is NOT an exact science. That’s what makes it dangerous sometimes. I worked with ‘autistic’ kids in a hospital setting, and the ‘Psychiatrist’ had intense psychotropic ordered for ‘acting out behaviors.’ WBR LeoP
